About Us

A4S and Positive Steps was founded from a shared passion to support young people facing extreme anxiety, low self-esteem, and a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Together, we provide a safe, nurturing alternative to mainstream education where each student can rebuild their confidence, wellbeing, and love for learning.

A4S and Positive Steps are projects run by Progressability.org, an organisation with over 15 years of experience delivering tailored support to young people to recognise their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their potential. Since our inception, our work has been guided by three core principles:

Engage, Encourage, Educate—values that continue to underpin everything we do.

Founded on a belief in the value and potential of every individual, Progressability.org was created to inspire, empower, and support young people through meaningful, personalised experiences. By combining innovative approaches with a deep understanding of the challenges facing young people today, we help them develop the skills, resilience, and aspirations needed to thrive.

Our Trustees

Our trustees are passionate about the mission of A4S and Positive Steps projects and dedicated to creating positive outcomes for disadvantaged young people. They provide strategic leadership and oversight, ensuring our programmes are safe, effective, and aligned with our values and charitable objectives.

Meeting regularly, the Board works closely with staff and volunteers to guide the organisation's development, safeguard the welfare of the young people we support, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our services.

Collectively, our trustees bring extensive experience of working with young people, alongside professional expertise across education, health, finance, and other sectors. Their knowledge, commitment, and leadership help strengthen the impact of A4S and Positive Steps within the local community.

If you would like to attend our next AGM meeting, please see our Events page for more details on the next meeting.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where every young person has the confidence, skills, and opportunities to fulfil their potential and lead a positive, purposeful life.

Children supported by our charity experience meaningful, lasting outcomes that help them thrive both now and in the future. Through our programmes, we see reduced anxiety and improved well-being, enabling children to feel safer, happier, and better equipped to cope with everyday challenges.

As their emotional well-being grows, they demonstrate increased engagement with learning, becoming more motivated, focused, and ready to achieve their potential. Our support also fosters improved confidence and future aspirations, empowering children to believe in themselves and look ahead with optimism and ambition. Alongside these outcomes, children develop strengthened social and emotional skills, building positive relationships, managing emotions effectively, and gaining the resilience needed to navigate life's challenges.

Together, these outcomes create a strong foundation for children to flourish at school, at home, and within their communities.
