About the Course
At our allotment, students will learn about different plants and how to grow them. They will gain experience digging and cultivating the soil, planting, tending and harvesting different varieties of fruit, vegetables and flowers. They will then be able to enjoy the wonderful taste of fresh produce. Gardening helps to improve the students’ teamwork skills, communication, confidence and understanding of the natural environment. Gardening promotes a healthy active lifestyle and a healthy diet.
Possible Progression Routes
Students looking to pursue a career in Horticulture can move on to a higher level course at college. There is a huge variety of job opportunities in this industry. Some examples are: landscape gardener, garden centre assistant and garden maintenance.
