About the Course


From our recently re-furbished kitchen, students are able to produce a variety of dishes. During sessions, students research, shop and prepare a wide selection of their own choices. They will also be able to harvest produce from our allotment to use in their cooking. Health and safety, nutrition, different cooking methods and skills are demonstrated and practised with an emphasis on enjoying the process by tasting the results.  In the past students have cooked a variety of dishes from around the world. Each week they chose a country and a recipe before heading to the local supermarket to purchase their ingredients. They have cooked dishes from China, India, Latvia,  Greece, Spain, Italy and Mexico.


Possible Progression Routes


There is a wide range of higher level courses in hospitality, catering and professional cookery offered at college should a student wish to further their studies in the catering industry. Students could find themselves working as a chef, kitchen assistant or waiter/waitress.
